Indian income and assets
Reporting Indian interest, rent, dividends and gains correctly in the UK.
Joined-up planning

Frequently asked questions
As an NRI, do I pay UK tax on my Indian income?
It depends on whether you are UK resident. UK residents are generally taxable on worldwide income, subject to reliefs such as foreign tax credits. Non-residents are generally taxable in the UK only on UK income. Your residence status is the first thing we check.
Does the UK–India double taxation agreement mean I pay no tax in one country?
Not automatically. The agreement sets out which country can tax what and how to claim credit for tax paid in the other. Relief has to be claimed correctly on your return.
I own UK property but live in India. What do I need to do?
You usually need to report UK rental profit and pay UK tax on it. Letting agents or tenants may need to deduct tax unless you are approved to receive rent gross. We can set this up and file your returns.
Can you work with my Indian accountant or chartered accountant?
Yes, and our partner firm Metta Accountants India can handle the Indian side directly if you prefer one point of contact.
